Bargaining Proposal

These proposals were developed based on membership input to the bargaining committee, and approved by the board of directors and rep council.

Bargaining Proposals for 2010-2013 Contract

Current contract language except the following additions, deletions, or changes.

Article 3 (Definitions) Add first cousin to immediate family

Article 5.13.1 Add some recourse if delays affect instruction. (tech repair)

Article 9.2.1 add harassment. (report of incidence)

Article 9.5 Clarification: Teachers may, but are not required, to allow a suspended pupil to complete assignments and to take tests missed during his/her suspension.

Article 10.1.1.2 Each comprehensive high school shall have the same number of instructional minutes per week.

Article 10.5.6.4 Allow teacher discretion on two weeks per month of professional development/collaboration

Article 10.5.6.4.1 delete “when needed” and change “announcements” to “business.”(ACT time in staff meetings)

Article 10.5.6.6 Delete (extra duty assignments)

Article 10.6.1.2 Reduce counselor work year by 5 days.(With no salary reduction) Librarians shall have the option of working up to 5 days in the summer before the start of the school year and taking the same number of days off during the school year.

Article 11 Add class size limit for ASP; add seven hour aide provided for ASP teacher

Article 12 Change Library Media Teacher to Teacher Librarian.

Article 12.1 The District shall employ at least eight (8) full-time equivalent Language Speech and Hearing Specialists, one to be assigned to each comprehensive high school.

Article 18.4.1 Change date of department chair election to third week of April

Article 21 Add provision for family members who are both certificated bargaining unit members to donate sick days to each other for non-catastrophic needs.

Article 26 Delete: A department chair will not be compensated an extra one-fifth (1/5) of the teacher’s daily rate unless they teach six (6) periods.

Article 27 Limit the number of co-teaching assignments; distribute special education students evenly throughout the regular education classes they are enrolled in; provide common prep time for co-teachers; allow special education teachers and their aides some common prep time.

Article 12 Add rotation list for after school teaching/tutoring positions.
